Funeral services were held here Wednesday for Gerrit John Teerink, 84, who died at his home at 600 Humiston Ave. Family service at 1:30, at the Benson Funeral Home was followed by a service at 2 p.m. from the American Reformed church. The Rev. Richard Stadt officiated. Interment was in Garden of Memories.
Mr. Teerink was born Feb. 18, 1883, in The Netherlands, coming to Orange City, Iowa, with his mother at the age of nine years. He and Nellie Post were married Jan. 15, 1908 at Sioux Center, Iowa.
They farmed near Orange City until 1912, when they came to Minnesota. He farmed in the Bigelow and Worthington area until moving into Worthington in 1948.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, John, Gerrit, Evert and Howard, Worthington, and Lambert, Bellflower, Calif., and four daughters, Mrs. John Bonnes (Gertrude), Lakewood, Calif.; Mrs. Karl Alexander (Grada), Canoga Park, Calif.; Mrs. Alfred Brouwer (Jeanette), Asbury, Mo., and Mrs. David Van Citters (Dorothy), Richardson, Tex.
He is also survived by 38 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and four sisters.
