SERVICES THIS AFTERNOON FOR MRS. W.B. ELDER WHO DIED TUESDAY
Mrs. W.B. Elder of Novelty died at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, 1966 at the Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville where she had been a patient since Nov. 17. She was 83 years old and came with her parents to Novelty when she was a young girl.
Funeral services are at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel here with the Rev. Bob Schofield of Novelty officiating. Burial will be in the Novelty Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, two sons and two daughters by previous marriages, Darwin W. Dean of Independence, Missouri, Robert W. Dean of Shelbina, Ada, Mrs. John Hays of Minneapolis, Minn, and Caroline, Mrs. Delbert Hartsock of near Novelty. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Alice, Mrs. Raymond Kincaid of near Newark and Loraine, Mrs. Byram Woodard of Des Moines, Iowa, 9 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
As Bertha Pearl Wilson, Mrs. Elder was born Sept. 10, 1883 in Hancock County, Illinois, a daughter of Allen and Caroline Shields Wilson. She and Mr. Elder were married 26 Jul. 1930, [marriage license has the 24th day] and they lived on a farm near Novelty before moving into town several years ago. Mrs. Elder was a member of the Novelty Methodist Church.
Her parents, four sisters and two brother preceded her in death.
