Buford H. Bedingfield, 96, of Rogersville, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at ECM Hospital.
A graveside service will be Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at 1 p.m. Friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at Rogersville Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oliver-Bedingfield Cemetery.
Mr. Bedingfield was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Juanita Oliver-Bedingfield; and brothers, Hoyt, Albert and Arnold Graves Bedingfield.
He is survived by his nephews, Hoyt Bedingfield Jr., Jim Bedingfield and Bob Bedingfield; nieces, Joan Crown, Anne McCue and Juanita Lackner; many grand- and great-grandnieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Buford was a 1928 graduate of Lauderdale County High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II under Gen. George S. Patton's 3rd Army. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 11, Florence.
Mr. Bedingfield was the Lauderdale County sheriff in the late '70s for three years. He worked most of his life and retired as a cattleman farmer. Published in Florence Times Daily on November 24, 2007
