Funeral services for Edgar Thomas Doores, 73, of Paducah, will be held at 10 am Friday at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Jim Faughn will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Calloway Co. He died Monday, July 12, 2010 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center. A native of Calloway County, KY, Edgar was born February 27, 1937 to the late Newell Otto Doores and Ester McCuiston Doores. He was a 1955 graduate of Kirksey High School and received his Master's degree and Rank I Certification from Murray State University. He retired from the McCracken County School System, having taught Industrial Arts at Lone Oak High School and serving as Principal at Reidland Middle School, Farley Elementary and Hendron/Lone Oak Elementary. Edgar began beekeeping after his retirement and became known as the "Bee Man" to the students . In addition, he was a member of Paducah/McCracken County Retired Teachers Association and was a member of Central Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Peggy Jo Cleaver Doores; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Wolfe and husband John of Scottsboro, AL; two sons, Randy Thomas Doores and wife Treva of Nashville, TN and Richard Wayne Doores and wife Tina of LaVergne, TN; seven grandchildren, David, Larissa and Zachary Wolfe, Cody Thomas Doores, Nicholas Fisher Doores, Cassidy Jo and Calab Jake Wayne Doores; two sisters, Evelyn Tucker and husband Doug of Kirksey, KY and Anna Williams and husband Mark of Roy, UT; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Debbie Jo Doores; a brother, Edwin Doores; and his parents. Visitation will begin after 5 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
