William Daugherty, brother to John Quincy and James Daugherty was born in Bexar county, Texas in 1855 and married Josephine Powell in 1877. The family moved to Alpine in 1902.

William Daugherty was an expert in woodworking and cabinet making, as a building contractor he built many homes in Alpine, as well as the First Christian Church , the Kanady Kitchen building and the Mitchell-Gillett building. He also drew plans and surpervised the construction of the Masonic Temple in Alpine. He died in 1934 and his widow in 1940
