COOKEVILLE —Funeral services for Mary Maudean Sparks, 82, of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Clarence DeLoach will officiate. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 5-8 p.m., and Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m..

Mrs. Sparks passed away Monday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2018, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

She was born Nov. 29, 1935, in Cookeville, Tennessee, to the late Andrew Horace and Cynthia Anne England Boatman.
Mrs. Sparks was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ.
She was retired secretary with the Putnam County Board of Education.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Owen Sparks, whom she married June 12, 1955, in Cookeville; two sons, Chris (Sammie) Sparks, and Larry (Teresa) Sparks, all of Cookeville; sister, Roberta (Sped) Kastorff of Madison, Alabama; brother, Carl (Rhonda) Boatman of Laguna Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, Andrew (Whitney) Sparks, Jake Sparks, and Carley Sparks; and great-grandchild, Kylie Allen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Boatman.

Elders and deacons of Willow Avenue Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers.
