Daughter of General Daniel Stewart & Susannah Oswald. She was christened on 15 August 1799 at Midway Church, Liberty County, Georgia. She married 1st, as his 2nd wife, John Elliott, United States Senator from Georgia 1819-1825 {m. 6 January 1818}. Following his death, she married James Stephens Bulloch, an important figure in the affairs of Savannah, Georgia {m. 8 May 1832}. The family moved to Roswell, Georgia, in 1840 {near Atlanta} & lived in the mansion "Bulloch Hall" in that community. Some years following Bulloch's death {1849}, she sold the plantation & mansion and moved in 1854 to Philadelphia to live w/ her daughter Mrs. Dr. Hilborne West; in 1856, she moved to New York City, to live with her daughter Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt, Sr. She attended the birth of her grandson - Theodore, Jr.- in 1858 {U. S. President 1901-1909}. In his autobiography, President Roosevelt wrote: "My grandmother, one of the dearest of old ladies, lived with us, and was distinctly overindulgent to us children ...."; she died at Madison, New Jersey; grandmother - among others - of U. S. President Theodore Roosevelt {1901-1909} & great-grandmother - among others - of U. S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt {1933-1945} & Washington "grand-dame" Alice Roosevelt Longworth.
