The one "g" spelling of his middle name Higins is as shown in his St. Lawrence Catholic Church baptismal record.
He was the son of Lawrence Green B. Dishman (1852-1927) and his wife Mary Genevieve (Adams) (1868-1957). He married Anna Elizabeth Wathen at Knottsville, Daviess County, Kentucky on May 26, 1914. Anna died in 1930. He remarried to Artie Lee Carwile. He worked as an auto mechanic in Cloverport, Kentucky.
He died from injuries received in an accidental auto versus truck collison in Cloverport. He sustained a fatal internal hemorrhage.
Byron's grave is unmarked. He is buried in the same lot as his brother Lawrence I. Dishman and sister-in-law Lura Regina Coomes Dishman, as is the couple's son Francis Rudolph Dishman.
In addition to his widow Artie Lee, he was survived by son Byron Higins Jr., daughter Francis Lois, and son Joseph Daniel.
