Mrs. W. D. Barger, 68, died unexpectedly at 9:30 a.m. Friday at her home in Hillcrest at Kingsport, Tenn. She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Mrs. Barger is survived by nine children, Mrs. E. D. Waterman, Indian Springs, Mrs. G. K. Steadman, Mrs. 0. B. Pierce, Mrs. C. H. Bostick, Miss Anna Barger, George and Alvin Barger, all of Kingsport, Charley Barger, U. S. Army, Robert Barger, U. S. Navy; two brothers, Dan Fleenor, Indian Springs, Robert Fleenor, Orland, Cal., and 22 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Cassidy Methodist Church at Indian Springs in charge of the Rev. W. D. Wise, the Rev. Elmer W. Dean, the Rev. W. H. Hale and the Rev. D. W. Jones. Burial will be in the Gunnings Cemetery. Time of the service is indefinite, pending arrival of the sons in the armed forces. BRISTOL HERALD-COURIER, 15 Jan. 1944.
