Vernon McKinley Lockhart, 94, of Scottsboro, Ala., formerly of Parkersburg, passed away July 11, 2010.
Mr. Lockhart was a member of the Camden Avenue Church of Christ for 70 years, and a member of the Broad Street Church of Christ in Scottsboro, Ala., for three years.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Mark) Lockhart Latham; daughter-in-law, Ana Lockhart; grandchildren, Deborah (Chris) Fullmer, Dexter W. (Bengy) Austin Jr., Cynthia R. (Doug) Smith, Marc R. Austin, and Allison Lockhart; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Stanley (Carolyn) Lockhart; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle A. Lockhart; parents, Amos and Eva Lockhart; grandson, Richard Keith Brackin; brother, Russell Lockhart; and sister, Dorotha McCrackin.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Evangelists Dana Singluff and Andy Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
