She came to Texas in 1865 with her husband E.W. Childs and family. She and two twin daughters died in 1867 due to an outbreak of malaria along the Trinity River in Freestone County. Sandtown is reported to be near the Cook's Ferry river crossing. The exact location of Sandtown is not known.
Some historians have given her name as Sellers and also as Joyce; however, the official marriage certificate gives her name as Nancy Richardson on file in Pike County, Alabama.
They were married on March 7, 1842.

(Nancy & her brother, Augustus R. Richardson were the only 2 children of Littleberry Richardson 1800-1826 (he died after being thrown from his horse) and Sarah Posey.
