John A. Roming, 76, died Saturday, Jan. 23, at Comanche Hospital in Comanche.

Graveside services were Monday, Jan. 24 at Live Oak Cemetery in the Ohio Community of Hamilton County with Gale Scott officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home.

Mr. Roming was born March 30, 1922, in Eddy, the son of John and Helen Williamson Roming. He was married to Lula Pearl Brinkley on Aug. 7, 1945, in Cleburne. She preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 1996.

He was a captain in the US Army, serving in the European Theater during World War II. For a number of years he served as a professor at Texas A&M University in the agriculture department. He retired from Sanders Boot Co. of El Paso, where he was employed as a traveling representative. When he started with the company it was small, but he helped develop it into one of the premier boot manufacturers.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Donna Roming and Dan and Paula Roming; two grandchildren, Christy Lee and Jamie Jo Roming; and a sister, Chastine Claire Roming Wieting
