Rev. Bruce was a Baptist minister, farmer, and nurseryman. He originated several fruit trees, one of more popular being the "Bruce Plum".
He was survived by his wife; Clara Short Bruce, three sons;
Dayton S. Bruce, Paul Marcus Bruce, Albert L. Bruce Jr., and daughter; Dora Young Bruce Brown
