Fred C. Barry, 64, of Jacksboro and Mineral Wells passed from this life on July 10, 2010 at his home in Mineral Wells.

Fred and his twin sister, Beverly were born in Jacksboro on September 1, 1945 to John and Irene (Argabright) Barry, Jr. Fred and Beverly grew up on the Jack Grace Ranch in Jack County. Fred married Sue Carroll in November of 2009. He was a cowboy, welder and dozer operator and retired in 2009. Fred attended Jacksboro High School and served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 stationed in Korea.

Fred was active in the VFW, serving as Commander seven times, Chaplain seven times and held various other offices. He arranged Veteran's Day Programs, benefits for people in need, participated in Toys for Tots and many other programs to benefit his community. He was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells and an avid fan of ranch rodeo, team roping, and western swing music.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Lace Barry in 2006.

He is survived by his wife Sue of Mineral Wells; one son Ace Lowrance and wife Angie of Jacksboro; twin sister Beverly McCoy and husband Dr. C. Eddie McCoy of Dallas; brother John "Jack" Barry, III of Antelope; sister Shirley Dye and husband Doyle of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister Kay Hardin and husband Walter of Wichita Falls; grandsons Lathan and Jaron Lowrance; step-children Shauna Bradshaw and husband Wes and Jim Ed Talbert; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

There will be a visitation on Monday July 12, 2010 from 6-8 pm at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro, Texas.

Services will be Tuesday July, 13, 2010 at 2pm at First Baptist Church in Jacksboro, Texas. Burial will follow at Antelope Cemetery in Jack County. Pallbearers will include Sam Minton, Ronnie Northcut, Bill Wolfe, Chuck Curtis, L.C. Morrow, Roy Guy Armstrong, Rick Campsey and Jerry Bolton. Honorary pallbearers will include the VFW Post #8914 of Jack County, Texas.
