THE PARIS NEWS, Jan. 11, 2012, page 2. - Nellie Marie Kelley, 95, of Paris, passed from this life into life eternal on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at her residence, following a long and courageous battle. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mickey Kelley, Rev. Chris Kelley, and Rev. O.D. Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family receives friends from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Nellie was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Johntown, a daughter of Roland Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Duff Rector. She attended Red River County schools, and lived her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Church of Powderly.

She married John Robert Kelley on Nov. 8, 1931, in Milton. He preceded her in death June 12, 1992. She and her husband lived in Milton, Deport and Johntown, then moved to Chicota in 1949, where she lived until moving to Paris in 1990. She moved to Tyler in 2005, then returned to Paris in 2007.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, James Robert and Kenneth Ray; four granddaughters, Pamela Hicks, Mary Hicks, Janice Hicks, and Myra Mabb; a grandson, Scotty Freeman; a great-grandson, Jimmy Kelley, Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Catrina Wagner; four brothers; three sisters; and a special granddog, Moochie.

Survivors include sons J.C. Kelley and wife Barbara, of Paris, Gordon Kelley, of Humansville, Mo., Mickey Kelley and wife, Kay, of Chicota; daughters Lawana Smallwood, Sue Moore and husband, Junior, Shirley Kelley and Sandra Kelley, all of Paris, Betty Hardy and husband, Chuck, Patsy Kelley and Joyce Martin, all of Powderly; Reba Robertson, of Chicota, and Peggy Cross and husband, Tom, of Leesburg; 39 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Named to serve as pallbearers are Rickey Hicks, Johnny Kelley, Micah Kelley, Kenneth Kelley, Steven Martin, Steven Kelley, Robert Kelley and Mack Graham. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
