H. L. "Crusty" Barton, age 84 of Lexington died July 13, 1998 in Purcell. He was born November 14, 1913 in Newalla, Oklahoma to Charles & Hattie Barton. He grew up in south Oklahoma City where he attended Capitol Hill High School and was a fullback on the famous Capitol Hill Football Team of the early 1930's. After 35 years as an Oklahoma City fireman, he retired as District Chief in 1969. He will be remembered as an avid calf roper and was a member of the Kings Gate Church in Lexington.
He was preceded in death by Preston of Houston, sister-in-law, Margaret Barton of Oklahoma City, seven grandchildren & four great grandchildren and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 16, 1998 at Little's Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell, with interment in Lexington Cemetery.
