Floyd Dean Anderson left his long life on this earth, and passed to the God who gave him life, on July 9, 2010. He was at his home while surrounded by his loving family at his passing.
Floyd was born June 26, 1928 to Lawrence Anderson and Grace Ida Anderson at the home of his maternal grandparents in Richmond, Utah.
He spent the first six years of his life in Stone, Idaho. The family moved when he was six years of age, to Snowville, Utah, where he lived until he grew to maturity.
Floyd graduated from Bear River High School with the class of 1946, then attended Utah State University, graduating in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science.
He then worked for the United States Government until 1954 when he was called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Central Atlantic States Mission. While serving as a missionary, he was called as a counselor in the Mission Presidency. It was there that he met a sister missionary, Jeannine Beckstead, whom he later married after their missions were completed. Floyd and Jeannine were married on December 7, 1956 in the Logan LDS Temple. They celebrated their fifty-third wedding anniversary this last year.
They spent their early married life living and working, first in Salt Lake City, Utah, and then Los Angeles, California. They moved back to Salt Lake City in 1958, when Floyd accepted employment with Beneficial Life Insurance company, where he worked continually until he retired in 1993.
They moved from Salt Lake City to Bountiful, Utah in 1958, and reared their family there. They were blessed with five wonderful children and eighteen beautiful grandchildren.
During his working career, Floyd served as Salt Lake City Metro Director and as Regional Executive for the National Alliance of Business. He also spent several years in a leadership position for the Davis County Republican Organization.
Always active in the LDS Church, Floyd served in many capacities. He also served as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful LDS Temple for some years. Floyd has many additional interests in his life, including foremost his family, LDS Church, sports, politics, fishing, and friends.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Jeannine; his children; Carla Anderson, Jodi Milton, Larry (Stephanie) Anderson, Chari (Jeffrey) Wallentine, and Jared (Maeva) Anderson. He is also survived by his sisters: Twila Knight and Ruth Bowen; and in-laws: Bob Bowen and Anna Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Grace Anderson; and, his brothers: Lawrence Rexie Anderson and Albert Omar Anderson.
Funeral Services will be held in the Mueller Park Ninth Ward Buidling, 1800 Mueller Park Road, Bountiful, Utah, at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. There will be a viewing held beforehand from 10:00-11:45 a.m. There will also be a viewing held at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah, on Monday, July 12, 2010 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the Bountiful Memorial Park, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
