Mrs. H. M. Davidson Dead

Monday morning, August 10, at her home on Gordon Drive West, Mrs. H. M. Davidson died suddenly after several months of ill health. Her breakfast was at her bedside and her devoted daughters had raised her up when she fell back and died without speaking though they plead for one more word.

The funeral was held at the home this afternoon at 4 o'clock by her pastor, Rev. J. A. J. Brock. Mrs. E. S. Johnson and Miss Margaret Clarkson sang soft sweet songs. The beautiful gray casket was almost buried in flowers. Some of the most noticeable florals were one from Mr. Davidson's fellow workmen for the L & N railroad, one from the W.C.T.U. and the Woman's Home Mission Society, to both of which she belonged, and others from individuals.

The pallbearers were Dr. W. A. Rickles, a nephew of the deceased, John Patterson, M. C. Yielding, Julius Nation, John Rickles and John McCleskey.

There was a large attendance at the burial, carriages and a chartered car carrying many friends to the City Cemetery where the interment took place. The Home Mission ladies passed in procession by the finished vault and each dropped a piece of cedar as an emblem of their evergreen memory of their departed friend.

Mrs. Davidson was 56 years of age and had lived in Decatur 20 years, having been a charter member of the first South Decatur Methodist Church, which was organized in her house. She leaves a husband and four daughters to battle with life without her gentle kindness and timely advice and judgement. The daughters are Mrs. James Nicholson, Misses Jennie, Pearl and Maude Davidson. We offer our deepest sympathy to all these in the loss of a sweet Christian wife and mother.
