At the Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. She had congestive heart failure.

She resided in Edgewater, MD, and formerly, Whitehall, MD. She worked at the A&P Grocery Store and the G.C. Murphy in Annapolis. She was also a self-employed antique dealer and a vendor at the city dock in Annapolis. She was a lifetime member of the West Annapolis Volunteer Fire Department and member of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Hall of Fame. During her lifetime, she provided shelter and care for more than 52 children she considered her own.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Fleming; her three sons, Buddy, Butch, & Bobby Lee Fleming; daughter, Millie Fleming, and a brother, Harry Durm.

Survivors include her brother, Bunky Durm of Harwood, MD; sister, Doris Cosden of Lothian; grandchildren, Penny Lynn Nichols, Thomas E. Nichols, Wendy L. Hartung, Susan "Frostee" Dove, & Lee Anne Fleming; great-grandchildren, Bobbi Lee & Rikki Lynn Hartung, Chelsea, Brady, & Hailey Dove, Ty Nichols, Dylan Nash, and Brianna & Gavin Fleming.

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, June 29, 2010.
