PORT LAVACA - Funeral services for John McKamey, 77, a resident here since 1908, were to be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Lynworth Cemetery under direction of Richardson Funeral Home.McKamey died in a San Antonio hospital about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. His family owns the original town site of Gregory and his father farmed the first blackland cotton in the Gulf Coast area there. McKamey graduated from Baylor University in 1899. He was a past president of the Rotary Club here, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Knights Templar, a Shriner, and an elder in the First Presbyterian Church.Survivors are a sister, Dr. Ivy McAnelly, a retired osteopathic; a brother, T.A., who still lives on the old family site in Gregory; four daughters, Mrs. Riva Corbin of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Lurline Pulliam of Alpine, Mrs. Maida Wiese of Tivoli and Mrs. Iris Wagner of Victoria, and seven grandchildren.
