John Harte Carter , as reported by a son, was born and raised at or near Hollywood, Arkansas. As a young man he left home for Texas in 1896 and settled in Blossom. Here he farmed the area until only a few years before his death. He was survived by his wife, the Miss Lalla Hill whom he married in 1898, five children, two sisters and four grandchildren.
