Walter Wesley Collins, 74, of Fort Smith died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital.

He was a retired building inspector for Superior Federal Bank, a former pastor of Maple Grove Church of God in Neodesha, Kan., and the Green Mound Church of God in Wayland, Iowa. He was a member of Fort Smith High School Class of 1946, a member and deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith, a former choir director and Sunday school superintendent at the church.

Funeral was at First Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Steep Hill Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, Charles Michael Collins of Fort Smith and Edward Dale Collins of Benton; his mother, Minnie Williams Collins of Fort Scott, Kan.; two sisters, Emma Allen and Maxine McDow, both of Fort Scott, Kan.; a brother, Richard Collins of Belle Plaine, Kan.; and one grandson.

Pallbearers were trustees and deacons of First Free Will Baptist Church.
