He was a Revolutionary War veteran. He has been proved for SAR with a Supplemental Certificate by Gerald Steffy.

George was married to Mary Margaret Wampler who died in 1826. Next he was married to Elizabeth (Betsey) Thompson, who was the second wife of Martin Staley.
