Mathias was the son of John Denman and Mary Ann Ellis.He married Clella Doak on March 6th, 1907. They were the parents of Virginia (1916-1970, Bass).

Storm Lake Register - Tuesday , December 17th, 1935 - M.H. Denman, who was taken
seriously ill at Worthington, Minn., less than two weeks ago. died at the Worthington hospital Saturday evening at seven o'clock at the age of 49 years.

Mr. Denman had been in ill health for many years. He was forced to give up farming several years ago when he moved to Storm Lake. For some time he was in business here and recently he had purchased an interest in a business at Worthington. He was taken seriously ill the day of the opening and on Friday, December 9th, was removed to the hospital.

Mrs. Denman and daughter, Miss Virginia, were called to Worthington and were with Mr Denman when death came. Miss Virginia who had been ill with an attack of appendicitis for about a week before going to Worthington entered the hospital where her father had been taken. She was confined to bed until brought home Sunday by ambulance. She is to submit to an operation at the local hospital Wednesday or Thursday.

Born in Sac County Matthias Hampton Denman, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hampton
Denman, was born in Sac county on April 13th, 1886. He grew to manhood In Sac
county and moved to Sac City in 1904. For two years he attended the Sac City college.

On March 6th, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Clella Doak and they moved to a farm three miles south of Schaller. Here they resided for twenty-three years, when owing to Mr . Denman's health they left the farm and moved to Storm Lake. To Mr. and Mrs. Denman one child was born, Miss Virginia Denman, well known Storm Lake girl.

Surviving are the wife and daughter, Virginia: his aged father, John Hampton Denman of Sac City; three sisters: Mrs. Bessie Griffin and Mrs. Henry Klove of Sac City and Mrs. Roy Buckingham of Dodge City, Kansas; one brother, Roy Denman, of Sac City; and many other relatives and friends.

His mother died about ten years ago.

Funeral services were held from the home this Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 and from the Hughes Funeral home at 2:00 o'clock conducted by Dr Edward L. Gibson, pastor of
Lakeside Presbyterian church. The body was taken to Sac City, where burial was made beside the mother of Mr. Denman.

During the services Mrs. Morton J. Hughes sang two solos, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Some Day We'll Understand." Bearers were Wesley Box, Lee Waite, Carl Johnson and Vincent Fitzgerald of Storm Lake, Mr Lynch of Sac City, and Ray Wright of Schaller.

The Sac Sun - Thursday , December 19th, 1935 - M Denman died at a hospital at Worthington MN, last Saturday after a serious illness of less than 2 weeks at the age of 49 years. He had been in ill health for some time and several years ago retired from farming and went into business in Storm Lake, until moving to Worthington recently to engage in business there.

Mr Denman was a brother of Mrs Henry Klove, Mrs LA Griffin, and Roy Denman of Sac City. He grew to manhood in Sac county and moved to Sac City in 1904. In 1907 after his marriage he moved to a farm near Schaller where he resided for 23 years.

Funeral services were held in Storm Lake Tuesday afternoon and burial was made in Oakland cemetery in Sac City.

The remains were brought to the home in Storm Lake. Mr Denman was a life long resident of Cook township and is a son of H Denman of Sac City.
