Carl W. Nipper, 82 ROCKFORD - Carl W. Nipper, 82, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010, in his home. Born May 20, 1928, in Ore City, Texas, the son of Walter and Ethel (Smith) Nipper. Married Maxine E. Burgett on March 5, 1949. Carl was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Greenlee Corp. during the 1950s and later worked as an expeditor for Landstar Express America. Carl enjoyed traveling and bluegrass jams. Survivors include his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Palma "Pam" Miller of Rockford; a brother, James (Birdie) Nipper of Clinton, Ark.; a sister, Marlette Darden of El Dorado, Ark.; nieces and nephews, Tommie (Dennis) King, Norman Cozart, Janet (Cloyd) Dowell, Judy Duke, Jack (Lesa) Burgett and Charles (Sharon) Nipper; great-nieces and nephews, Carlene King, Chancellor King, Nicole Paluzzi, Charlotte Cozart, Joey (Rachel) Dowell, Jeff Dowell, Jacob (Laura) Burgett, Jon Burgett and Marilyn Duke; and other family members. Predeceased by his parents; a brother Fred; a sister, Junie Jetton; and a son-in-law, Irvin Miller. Service at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, in Sundberg Funeral Home Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., with the Rev. Karen Stubblefield officiating. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
