John is the son of David Bone and Dinah Poland. He married Zilly Pridgen, daughter of William Ashberry Pridgen and Martha Lindsey on 9 Jan 1868 in Nash County, NC.

John Wesley Bone Succummed Tuesday

John Wesley Bone, a well-known retired farmer of the Oak Level community, died Tuesday afternoon of pneumonia, at home. In spite of his 93 years, he was active until a few days before his death.
Funeral services were held from the OakLevel Baptist church, Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, by Rev. Guy B. Moore, pastor, assisted by Rev. L. D. Hayman of the Nashville Methodist church.
Bone was the last Confederate veteran of Nash County. He was a member of Company 1, 30th regiment. He enlisted at the beginning of the war and surrendered at Appomattox. During the war he was wounded twice, once in the hand, and once in the chest.
In 1868 he was married to Zilloh Pridgen of Nash County, who proceeded him to the grave 23 years ago.
Surviving are two sons, J. M. and B. E. Bone of the Oak Level community; two brothers, J. N. Bone and T. A. Bone of the same community; and the following grandchildren: Walter J. Bone, Nashville; Charles Wesley Bone, Raleigh; Eloise Bone, Whitakers; Elain Daugntridge, Belmont; and John A. Daughtridge, a student at Wake Forest College; and five great grandchildren.
