LOUIS BRILES
Louis Briles, a resident of Lucas county since 1881, departed this life July 15th at his home northwest of Chariton. The services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Frederick Donovan. A large company of friends attended the services and testified to the high regard in which deceased was held. Interment was made in the Chariton cemetery.
Mr. Briles was born near New Amsterdam, Harrison county, Indiana, on August 2, 1843 and had passed his seventy-fifth birthday. On August 29, 1869, he was married to Martha J. Hogan. To this union were born four children, William R. Briles, Mary E. Briles, O. E. Briles and a daughter who died in infancy.
Mr. Briles was a loving and devoted husband and father, generous in all his dealings with other. While his years and infirmities led him to expect the end he continued to keep an intense interest in life, and would have gladly served his generations still longer.
Before coming to Chariton in 1881, Mr. and Mrs. Briles lived on a farm near Valley City, Indiana for eight years, moving from there to Grandbury, Texas, where they lived four years.
Not demonstrative, but faithful in all his work, deceased will be mourned by many who had come to esteem him as a man of integrity and of loving heart.
