Former Superintendent Receives Lodge Honors
Funeral services for Leslie W. Lee, former superintendent of Odessa schools, are being held at Spokane this afternoon from the Masonic temple. Rev. Roy E. Howes and the Rose Croix are officiating at the temple and Blue lodge at the grave.
A large group from Odessa Lodge No. 156, F. & A. M., of which he was a member, are attending the funeral. He was also a past master of Masons of Washington and Alaska, a member of the Scottish Rite bodies, El Katif temple Shrine, 33rd Degree Honorary Mason, past patron Martha chapter, O.E.S., Cheney.
Mr. Lee came to Odessa as superintendent in 1924, and guided the consolidation of the small school districts of the area, supervised the building of the new high school in 1927, and at the time of his departure was the school operating 17 buses.
Goes to Cheney
In 1941 re resigned to take the post as director of the placement bureau of Eastern Washington College of Education at Cheney. In 1945 he was elected grand master for the state of Washington Masonic bodies. Later he accepted the superintendency of the Rosalia schools, holding that post until ill health forced his resignation, since which he has lived at Spokane.
A prominent speaker, his services were in demand throughout the district. He served on the jurisprudence committee of Masons of Washington for several years before his election to the Grand Master chair.
An active Chamber of Commerce member, he was a past president of that group and served for many years as secretary.
He is survived by his wife, Zella V. Lee, at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Fea, Quincy, Wash., and Patricia Lee at the home; two sons, Leslie W. Lee Jr., Portland, Ore., and Robert L. Lee, also at the home; four grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Lee, Washtucna, Wash., and several sisters in the east.
