They spent their adult life in Nocona Texas. Elmer worked for Justin Boots before WWII. After WWII broke out he joined the Navy. Because of his boot-maker background he was put into making shoes and boots in San Diego California. After the war was over him and Margaret moved back together to Nocona Texas. They opened Adkins Furniture and Carpet in downtown Nocona sometime in the late 50's or early 60's. They had 4 kids, Elmer Henry Adkins Jr.(Sonny), Margaret Ann, Judy and Mary. They had 6 Grandkids. Every holiday, all the kids and grandkids were at the Adkins house. I will be forever grateful to have them as my grandparents. Rest in peace, we will be all together someday.
