Revolutionary soldier Jesse Foree was honored when, in a full ceremony, his tombstone and a DAR marker were unveiled in the DAR lot in Frankfort Cemetery.
Jesse Foree was born in 1761 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. He was the son of Peter Foree and wife Mary who also had 12 other children. The grandfather of Jesse, Pierre Faure, was an immigrant Huguenot who came to Manakin Towne in Virginia in the early 1700's. Manakin Towne was first settled about 1700 by French refugees first settling on the south side of the James River in Henrico County. These refugees were from France, but because of their Protestant beliefs they had to leave their homeland to keep from being killed.
