Abraham Dinwiddie was the son of John Dinwiddie and Matilda Buckles. He was born in Indiana in 1846 and his family moved to Missouri in 1868.

Abraham was a veteran of the Civil War. He was a resident of Newton, Indiana, when he enlisted as a Private on 8 Apr 1862. He mustered in Co I 72nd Indiana Infantry on 4 Aug 1862 and mustered out on 24 Jul 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.

On 30 Jan 1870, in Atchison County, Missouri, Abraham married Mary Louis Bailey, daughter of Ezekial and Nancy Bailey. Their son, Isaac, was born Oct 1870 in Atchison County. About 1889 the family moved to Hamburg, Iowa.

Abraham was in the hardware business during the fourteen years he lived in Hamburg before his death. He was a charter member of the K and P Lodge, a member of the Masonic and Eastern Star lodges, and he served three years on the school board.

Abraham died at the age of 56 years 4 months, after having been ill for several weeks. He suffered from diabetes, which contributed to his death from blood poisoning resulting from a large malignant growth on his neck.
