BURL ARMSTRONG, SR.

Burl Armstrong, Sr., 85, of Sweetwater, died Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at the Sweetwater Cemetery with family members officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home of Sweetwater.

Mr. Armstrong was born May 10, 1915 in Blount Springs, AL. He married Thealin May on July 25, 1936 in Sweetwater. He was a self-employed carpenter before he retired.

Survivors include two sons, Sonny Armstrong and wife, Ann, of Sweetwater and Raymond Armstrong and wife, Vickie, of Eustace; two daughters, Barbara Mitchell of Sweetwater and Michele Jones and husband, Mark, of Sweetwater; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thealin Armstrong on March 10, 2000; his parents; one brother, Roger Armstrong; and twin sister, Beatrice Barfield.
