First Lieut. Erwin Richard Schott, was Missing In Action over Continental Europe, May 1, 1943 and was declared dead as of May 4, 1944. Erwin & his 9 crew members went down into the English Channel after being hit by enemy fire.

Erwin IS NOT BURIED in Longmeadow Cemetery, but his name is on a headstone with his brother, Werner E. Schott, sister, Elsie A.K. Schott Franke and her husband, Wilhelm Franke.

Erwin Schott is also honored with his name on a Memorial on the Longmeadow Town Green.

The family of Erwin waited for him to come home some day.

First Lieut. Erwin R. Schott is also remembered by the American Battle Monument Commission.

His name is on the Wall of Honor along with many other soldiers at the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. But he is not buried there.
