John Greene Shastid's grandfather is Jervis Green(1750-1782) who served under Col. Daniel Boone and died at the Battle of Blue Licks Kentucky along with Daniel Boone's son Israel.
John Shastid's home is now a museum and known as the place where Abraham Lincoln stayed while in Pike County on legal business. The Shastids knew Mr. Lincoln from when they lived in Menard County. His mother Nancy Elizabeth Greene 1775-1846, was a member of the large Greene family that befriended Mr. Lincoln when he arrived in Menard County. His aunt Elizabeth Graham Greene (1785-1869), is also the aunt of William Mentor Graham (1800-1894) who is know as the friend and teacher of Abraham Lincoln.
