KINGMAN, Ind. (CNS)-Walter W. Nixon, 77, retired farmer of Kingman rural route near Lodi, died Saturday evening (Aug. 10, 1957) in Wabash Valley Nursing Home at Montezuma where he had been a patient six months.

Born in Portland Arch, Ind., July 4, 1880, he was the son of William and Mary Ann Beetle Nixon. His early life was spent near Potomac where he was reared by an uncle.

He was married to Lenora Swaim who preceded him in death and later was married to Ura Fletcher who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dorene Harris of Livermore, Iowa; two sons, Albert of Washington, D.C., and Russell of Kingman rural route; a step-daughter, Mrs. Jean Butcher of Ridgefarm; two brothers, Charles of Danville and Jim of Monon, Ind. 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Five brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

The body is at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman where services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dean Hartman will officiate, with burial in Miller Cemetery, Lodi.
===================================
NOTE: His father's name is William WALKER Nixon, not William Ward Nixon. William Ward Nixon was a half-brother to Walter. There's been some extremely bad/incorrect genealogy done on the Nixon family. Walter's mother was Mary Ann (Sullivan) Beedle, widow of Mahlon Beedle, not Mary Ann Silvers. Mary Ann Silvers disappeared while William was off fighting in the Civil War. He married the widowed Mary Ann "Maria" Beedle upon his return from the Civil War. She's the one buried in Potomac, not Mary Ann Silvers. Also, her death certificate says she died from an abortion but to clarify, at that time abortion was the term used for a miscarriage and not abortion as it's known today.
