Lillian Frances Cockriel was one of three children born to James Anderson Cockriel and his first wife Elizabeth Staples from Platte Co. MO. Lillian's mother Elizabeth died when she was only 3, in 1880 Platte Co. MO. Her father remarried 11 Oct 1881 a Rosa A. Asher but the second marriage was very acrimonious and the second wife's suit for divorce made the newspapers. He died 26 Aug 1898 from tuberculosis.

All of the siblings from the first marriage left Missouri when they got old enough. Lillian first married George W. Mongold b.ca. 1877 Missouri. He can be seen as a 'boarder' in Platte Co. MO 1910 census. I have no further information on that first marriage, however as Mrs. Lillian Frances Mongold she remarried 22 June 1910 in Clay Co. MO, Thomas N. Abbott. The couple were living in Lewis Co. Washington by 1918 when he was employed as farm labor. Lillian's siblings had also managed to make it to Washington, living in Tacoma, WA.
