EUGENE SHRODE RITES FRIDAY
Riceville – Eugene Shrode, 89, died Tuesday at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church, Riceville. A family service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage.
Born and reared in Riceville, he operated a livery barn here and later a hatchery. He was married to Nancy Elwell in 1912.
Surviving are his wife, four daughters; Mrs. Wilbur Danforth, Osage; Mrs. Robert Kopf, Waterloo; Mrs. H. B. Gildersleeve, North Bend, Washington; Mrs. Olan Thornburg, Council Bluffs; 16 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a brother, Charles, Riceville.

Eugene Shrode was born August 8, 1871 in Mitchell Co., the son of Conrad and Barbara (Workman) Shrode. He married Nancy Elwell, the daughter of Lorenzo and Martha (Peavey) Elwell.
