Roy A. Simonis passed away peacefully at Thedacare Regional Medical Center in Appleton on Saturday evening, February 10, 2018, at the age of 92. He now is able to be reunited with his wife and best friend, Theresa, who he dearly missed these past 8 years. He is survived by his sons, Ron (Kam) Simonis and Anthony (Kim) Simonis; and his three grandchildren, T.J., Samuel and Sydney Simonis

Roy was born on December 11, 1925, to the late Anton and Clara (Windorf) Simonis in the town of Alban. He spent his working life as a farmer and as an employee for the Portage County Highway department. He retired in 1989.

His marriage to Theresa Strosin took place on a hot summer day July 2, 1949 and the couple eventually purchased her parents farm in 1953 and continued farming. Roy and Theresa were married for 60 years.

Roy enjoyed gardening, hunting, telling a good joke, playing cards and spending time with his family.

For many years Roy participated in the Sacred Heart Society and was a member of the Men’s Rosary Society at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church. He also served as a member of the Rosholt Village board for a number of years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday February 15, 2018 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church Rosholt. Rev Jeffrey Hennes will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Pisarski Funeral Home of Stevens Point is honored to be serving the Simonis family.
