Aunt "Allie" was considered to be the daughter of John Rufus Reeves, and Matilda Alabama Blanton Reeves. This is the way it reads on her certificate of death. However, Matilda was not her real mother. Alice was born on June 12,1876, and her father didn't marry Matilda until Dec. 13, 1881 in Red River County Texas, when Alice was five years old. John Rufus had been married before. In 1872, he married Amanda Cook in Desoto County Mississippi. It can be assumed that Amanda was Alice's real mother. Although Alice Reeves claimed throughout her life to be Matilda Blanton's daughter; in their older years, both of her brothers stated that she was their half sister.
Alice married Quincy M. Anders on 8/27/1899 in Red River County. They later settled in Edna (Jackson County) where they resided through the 1920's. Around 1930, they moved to Goose Creek (Harris County) and remained in that area for the rest of their lives.
