Arnold Carl Bahr, veteran rural mail carrier, died last Thursday night at Memorial hospital, after an extended illness from a complication of diseases. His health had been failing for the past three years and he had been seriously ill for the past two months. Mr. Bahr was born on a farm in Blooming Grove township on Feb. 12, 1881. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Bahr, were among the early settlers of this county. After completing the rural school course, he attended high school at Arlington and later engaged in school teaching in Sibley and Waseca counties. While at this work he secured a position as substitute mail carrier. He was commissioned a regular rural carrier on April 1, 1921, and continued in the service ever since, until prevented by illness. He was a faithful, conscientious worker and enjoyed the friendship of his patrons and co-workers. On October 16, 1913, he was united in marriage with Miss Clara Lorenz, who survives him with one daughter, Miss Harriet. He also leaves one brother, Rev. George E. Bahr of Preston, and five sisters, Mrs. Frank Beese of Deerfield, Mrs. F. G. Kanne, Mrs. C. W. Kanne, Misses Amanda and Ida Bahr, all of Faribault.
