THEODORE J. HOST, SR., PROMINENT CITIZEN, IS TAKEN BY DEATH
THEODORE J. HOST, SR., for forty years a resident of Grand Rapids, passed away at his home at 849 Turner avenue, N.W., Friday afternoon, cerebral hemorrhage caused his death.
Host was well known in Grand Rapids and at one time conducted a retail clothing store on Monroe avenue. He was a charter member of Grand Rapids Council No. 389, Knights of Columbus, a member of Oriental Tent K.O.T.M.M., Modern Woodmen of America, St. Joseph's and Germania Aid societies. He was born in Wright township, Ottawa county, Michigan, and came to Grand Rapids forty years ago. He was 58 years old.
Surviving the deceased man are the widow, two sons, DR. LAWRENCE N. HOST, of Providence Hospital, Detroit, and THEODORE J. HOST, JR., of this city; two daughters, LORRAINE and JOSEPHINE, both of Grand Rapids; three brothers and four sisters. Funeral announcement will be made later.

Funeral services for THEODORE B. [J.] HOST, SR., who died Friday, will be held Tuesday morning at 9 from St. Mary's church. Interment at Mt. Calvary cemetery.

NOTE: Theodore & Josephine (Vogt) Host, had a son, ERNEST HOST, #56947981, who was born 19 July 1890, in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI, and died 20 November 1891, in Newberry, Luce Co., MI, and is buried in Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry. The dates on Ernest's 'Find A Grave' memorial do not match the dates of his official birth and death records. I have put in a request for a photograph of his gravestone to help clarify the issue.
They also had another son (not linked below), LAWRENCE NICHOLAS HOST, M.D., who was born 1 August 1892, in Newberry, Luce Co., MI. On his WWII Draft Registration Card of 1942, Lawrence was a self-employed doctor at 9953 E. Forest, in Detroit, MI, and was living with his wife, Gertrude C. Host, at 8925 E. Jefferson, in Detroit, MI. Lawrence's date of death and final resting place are not known.
