Ruth Mae Davis Barney, our loving wife, mother and grandma, was born Sept. 15, 1932, and joined her other loved ones Saturday, June 26, 2010.

Ruth was born - "barn" - in Richfield, Utah, the daughter of Zilpha and Clarence Davis. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She attended school in Richfield, and after graduating from high school began another "school of experience," with William Lane Barney. That "experience" lasted more than 60 years and will continue for all time and eternity. They were married in the St. George, Utah, Temple in 1950.

The couple purchased their first little rock home in Elsinore, Utah. There they had "our three sons," Rhett Lane, and Wayne and Shane, the twins.

In 1955, they continued the "sentimental journey" and moved to Granada Hills, Calif., where they began a wonderful career in floor covering. Ruth kept busy being the best mother in the universe to her three sons - keeping them active in church, baseball, school, twin clubs and all the wonders of the world.

Ruth had many talents, too numerous to mention, and each was done to perfection. She organized church and school activities, weaving a basket, "scratching" beautiful pictures onto fragile eggs, picture framing, writing poetry, wheeling and dealing the artifacts from the Queen Mary ship, singing and playing the piano by ear, writing poetry and reminder notes all over the house and, not to be forgotten, the gift of gab, storytelling and bringing humor and love to the world wherever she was. She wouldn't pass up an opportunity to get a good party going anywhere and everywhere. She did all of this and still managed to keep up with her four boys.

In 1969, with Wayne and Shane in tow and Rhett off to Brigham Young University, they moved to Lewiston to start a new adventure. Lane started his successful floor covering business with Ruth tending to the books and finding time to work in furniture and decor shops. She also became a "ding dong" Avon lady, which was her way of meeting the new town. She continued with Avon for more than 40 years and met the town. When Lane retired from floor covering, he had a new job "driving Miss Daisy" to deliver her Avon and was rewarded with lunch for doing so.

All of Ruth and Lane's dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been "barn" in Lewiston, yet another beautiful project for her.

She enjoyed many, many trips to Hawaii, carpet conventions in Las Vegas, trips to Alaska where she watched eagles, and travel all over the Western United States.

Ruth, "farking" her hair and singing in the heavens, is survived by her loving, eternal husband, Lane her three sons five grandchildren five great-grandchildren adopted daughter, Julie DeBarbrie her dear sister, Ann Braithwaite of Mountain Home, Idaho two brothers, Von and Carole Davis of Price, Utah, and Arlen and Odessa Davis of Tucson, Ariz. and numerous dear nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zilpha and Clarence Davis four brothers, Murdell, Thame, Lex and wife Amy, and Reece three sisters, Donna and husband Dean Bowman, Elma and husband Art Gaillard, and Fern Daniels and husband J.C. Thompson and brother-in-law, R.G. Braithwaite.

The family requests friends join them to celebrate Ruth's life. Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home in Lewiston and at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the LDS Stake Center on Ninth and Preston. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with burial at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.
