John Lowery along with Mary (Chapman) Lowery emigrated from County Monaghan*, Ireland in 1826, according to one of his son's obituaries (John Lowery). He along with his family lived at 63 Prospect St, near the waterworks (Prospect St. later changed to Bedford Ave- the area is approximately in the area of the intersection of I-579 and Bedford Ave).

He was listed as a laborer in city directories. He apparently worked in the flint glass industry, of which his sons, especially his son John, rose to prominence.

He and his wife had four children, three of whom lived to adulthood, and two of whom had children.

Besides the children below, he was also the father of William James Lowery

*(or County Mayo, according to some of my Aunt Linda's cousin(s) in CT)
