Francis Lafe Boyer, 81, died today at 8:10 a.m. in the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, where he had been a patient since Feb. 10. He had previously resided 16 years at 209 N. West St., Knoxville. Death followed an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Klinck Chapel, Knoxville, where friends may call Friday evening. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.
Mr. Boyer was born May 4, 1875, at Neodesha, Kan., and was married Dec. 28, 1895, at Abingdon, to Emma Jane Kennedy. He had farmed several years in the Gilson community before retiring.
Surviving are the wife, who now resides in Galesburg; two daughters, Mrs. Maudie Hayes of Naperville and Mrs. Gladys Mundt of Racine, Wis.; three sons, Fred A. and Glenn N. of Galesburg and Eddie of Gilson; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Olinger of Abingdon and Mrs. Athe Bellamy of Galesburg, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A daughter preceded him in death.
