Mrs. Henry Bills
MILLEDGEVILLE - Mrs. Henry D. (Clara) Bills of Elgin, who formerly taught in a country school near Milledgeville, died Friday night in an Elgin nursing home following an extended illness. She graduated from Northwestern University and was a 50-year member and past worthy matron of Milledgeville Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of Elgin's First United Methodist Church and the Woman's Club. Born June 11, 1880, in Milledgeville, she was the daughter of William and Catharine (Plock) Barthel. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. E. Arthur (Frances) Hill of Elgin; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 7, 1952, and by a brother and five sisters. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Schmidt Funeral Home, Elgin. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bethel Cemetery near Milledgeville. A memorial fund has been established for First United Methodist Church of Elgin.
