WELL KNOWN RESIDENT DEAD
MRS POLLY HARP BELOVED FOR HER MANY GOOD DEEDS.
Aged Woman Had Been Resident of Allen County, Milan Township, for Fifty-four Years - Born in Ohio on March 23, 1822.
Mrs. Polly Harp, widow of Henry Harp, died on Sunday afternoon at her residence in Milan township, after a long illness, at the age of eighty-six years.
Mrs. Harp was one of the oldest resident of Milan township. She was born in Erie county, Ohio on March 23, 1822, and came to Allen county, settling in Milan township in 1854. She was married to Henry Harp on the 20th day of August, 1842 in Erie county, Mr. Harp dying at the homestead in Milan township on Christmas day, 1872.
Since the death of her husband, the decedent had been living on the old homestead and was one of the most beloved residents of the township. She had always a kind word and helping hand for every one and her death will leave a void among the residents of the community. She is survived by one son, Henry Harp, of Kansas, and one daughter, Mrs. M. Hazelet, of New Haven.
The funeral services will take place at 1 o'clock this afternoon from the residence and the interment will be in the cemetery at Bower's chapel.
