Caleb William Benefiel 83 years, passed away at 6:45 in the evening in the home of his daughter Mrs. Laura Fordice at 138 B Street SE after having been ill since July 4.
Mr. Benefiel was a former resident of the Marco community on May 21, 1857, son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Benefiel, and was 83 years, 2 months, and 5 days of age at the time of his death.
His wife Mrs. Mary E. Myers Benefiel preceded him in death 14 years ago. He is survived by 2 children, William R. Benefiel of Marco and Mrs. Laura Fordice of Linton; 4 step-children Alex Myers of Marco, Charles F. Myers and Mrs. Martha Hammond of West Terre Haute and Mrs. Hosea (Cassie) Norris of Wheatland. A brother Robert Benefiel of Springfield also survives. The body of the deceased was taken to the Newkirk Funeral Home at Pleasantville and will be returned this evening to the home of the daughter Mrs. Fordice at 138 B Street SE. Burial will be in marco Cemetery.
