Samuel Miles Little was born on November 7, 1823, in Bedford, Tennessee, to Nancy HOGAN, age 34, and John Paul "Poney" LITTLE, age 38.

He married Nancy C. Vest on March 7, 1847, and she passed away at the age of 20 years old on March 21, 1851. Next to her headstone in the cemetery, are the headstone of two infant daughters of Samuel and Nancy.

He married Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Bigger on March 1, 1853. She is the daughter of James Bigger and Mariah Robertson.
On December 1, 1862, Samuel enlisted for 18 months at Caney Springs, Tennessee, in the Confederal Army and served in Company A, 4th Regiment of the Tennessee Cavalry.

Samuel and Mary Little came to Texas sometime before 1873 and settled in Gregg County. They had nine children together:
John N., Margaret L., James M., Willie Anna, Nellie L., Anna E.. Georgia Bell and her twin brother, and Jessie Louise Little.

Samuel Miles Little died in Gregg County, Texas on March 16, 1905 having lived a long life of 81 years. He and his wife, Mary, the twin to Georgia Bell (age 2), and Jessie Louise (almost age 12) are buried in the White Cemetery in Gregg County, Texas.
