Finas Conley, 69
RENSSELAER -- Finas Conley, 69, of rural Rennselaer, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Jasper County Hospital. He had been in failing health for many years.
Born in Knott County, Ky., July 4, 1938, the son of the late Lacy and Sarah Messer Conley, he had lived in Jasper County since 1946, moving from Kentucky.
He was educated in Kentucky schools and Gillam schools in Indiana.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1957 until 1960.
Mr. Conley worked in various occupations during his lifetime, including construction, heavy equipment, production and sales. He was last employed at Powder Check in Valparaiso, retiring in 1982 due to poor health.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gillam Township.
His first marriage was to Daisy Hopkins on April 14, 1962. On March 2, 1985, he married Cathy Harris, and she survives.
Also surviving are children, La Shena Kennedy (husband: V. William "Bill) of Kansas, Janeena Ricks of Monon, Freda May Marshall (husband: Tony) of Michigan, Finas Ray Conley of Winamac, Rebecca Lynn DeFranco (husband: Mike) of Walkerton; and six siblings: Ida Billings of Leiters Ford, Delmas Conley (wife: Sharon) of Rensselaer, Lottie DeleSantos (husband: Hector) of South Carolina, and Elmer Conley (wife: Sandra), Benjamin Conley (wife: Terri) and Paul Conley (wife: Connie), all of Medaryville.
Services will be Saturday in Gillham Township, Jasper County.
