Margaret Dewar is Called To Long Rest
After a brave fight for her life, waged for more then 5 weeks, Miss Margaret Dewar passed away at her home in Lewisville, Saturday, September 6.
Early last month Miss Dewar became aware of failing health and sought medical aid. On August 25 she went to Rochester, where she submitted to an operation. Unlooked for complications set in and it soon became evident that her condition was critical. She herself knew fully the seriousness of her illness, and while she never abandoned her will to live, she was resigned to go if Providence so willed it. She bore her suffering with patient Christian fortitude, never complaining, never despairing, maintaining to the end the sweet, cheerful disposition which was hers from childhood, and which so endeared her to all who knew her.
Margaret Dewar was the daughter of an Antrim township pioneer family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dewar. Until 16 years ago when they retired and moved to Lewisville, the family home was the farmstead in Antrim. There Margaret was born on September 10, 1898. There she grew up, attended school and cultivated the talent of music with which she was markedly endowed.
After completing the elementary school, Miss Dewar continued her education at Drake University and McPhail School of Music.
For several years she has taught music in the home community and was loved and respected by her many pupils for the painstaking skill with which she instructed. She was the possessor of a sweet soprano voice and was always glad to use her gift of song for the pleasure of others.
She leaves to mourn her loss her parents, two brothers, Archie and Gordon, of Lewisville, two sisters Mrs. Ray Barickman, St James, and Mrs. J. F. Crane of Warren, Pennsylvania, many relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral was held at tow o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Church of Christ at Lewisville, the Reverend Cole of Fairmont officiating. Burial was at the Riverside Cemetery, Madelia. Six cousins of the deceased were pall bearers, Howard Lewis, Van Dewar, Clyde Lewis, Sterling Dewar, Lyle Sargent, all of Lewisville, and Victor Spencer of Truman.
Relatives from a distance wo attended the funeral are Mrs. M. E. Vaughan, Minneapolis, and aunt, Sam and Charles Dewar, Gilbert Alexander, cousins of Westfield, Wisconsin.
